Jessica Hudson gave birth to her daughter, Piper, at 24 weeks.
Shortly after birth, the family learned that Piper was born with stage four brain bleeding, stage two and three eye disease and a heart defect.
After two months in the NICU, she was transported to MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital for surgery. Her family traveled over 200 miles to Charleston to be by her side.
Luckily, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston was close by and ready to take care of Piper’s family while they focused on her health.
“For six months, RMHC Charleston was there for us every time we needed them,” Jessica shares. “They ensured we were always fed, cared for and treated like family. Today, Piper is a healthy two-year-old and weighs 28 pounds! We can’t thank RMHC Charleston enough.”
