We will never forget Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015.
My wife, Juliana, delivered our second daughter, Juliet, two months pre-mature. We had driven down from Knoxville, Tennessee, the day before to attend a beach wedding at Folly Beach.
At 4 p.m., an hour before the wedding, we drove to MUSC to make sure that the Braxton Hicks contractions were nothing else. At 5:30 p.m., Juliet was born. Six hours from home, no family or friends nearby, and a newborn in the neonatal intensive care unit, we were being released from the hospital on Monday morning, with our 3-year-old, Olivia, in tow.
We will never forget you, Ronald McDonald of Charleston, for opening your doors, providing us food, shelter and above all, compassion. With all the uncertainties, worries and stress, you welcomed us in and gave us a place to call home for 38 days. The staff was remarkable, kind, loving and provided endless entertainment for Olivia.
We made it home two days before Thanksgiving and will always be thankful for the Ronald McDonald House of Charleston and its wonderful staff.
